A full-featured student academic web app built inside Ellucian Experience — giving every JU student a unified view of their holds, academic standing, current courses, advisors, grades, and advisees, all pulling live from Ellucian Colleague via Ethos API.
About the Project
Harbor is a custom multi-view web application I designed and built inside the Ellucian Experience platform at Jacksonville University. The name comes from the idea of giving students a clear sense of where they stand — a safe harbor with full visibility into everything that affects their academic journey. Before Harbor, students had to navigate multiple separate systems to find their advisor, check their GPA, look up current courses, or understand what holds were blocking registration.
Harbor consolidates all of it into a single, elegantly organized app with a persistent left-nav: Holds (anything blocking the student's path), Standing (academic standing status — President's List, GPA breakdown across JU coursework, transfer credits, and most recent term, expected graduation date), This Term (live course schedule with room, time, and instructor pulled from Colleague), Advisors (primary and secondary advisor assignments with contact info), Grades (cross-term grade history with the ability to view and paste grades across terms), and Advisees (for advisors to view their own advisee list). Every data point pulls live from Ellucian Colleague via the Ethos API, with no manual data entry or sync delays. The responsive layout works across desktop and mobile, and the JU dark teal brand is carried consistently throughout.
